Sustainable Tourism Certification (Australia)
We’re proud to have held Ecotourism Australia certification for over a decade and have recently achieved the new Sustainable Tourism certification, which is independently audited by Ecotourism Australia. This recognises businesses that minimise negative impacts and maximise positive outcomes for the environment, communities, and culture in Australia. You can find us listed as a green travel leader in the Green Travel Guide.
Respecting Indigenous Cultures
At Mighty we deeply respect and value the cultures, knowledge, and connection to Country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia, and the Māori of New Zealand. We’re committed to learning and building respectful relationships through our Reconciliation Action Plan in Australia and our engagement with tangata whenua (people of the land) in New Zealand.
Indigenous tourism experiences offer powerful, immersive opportunities to connect with Australia’s First Peoples and New Zealand’s Māori communities. Guided journeys led by local experts help foster new connections to the land and its peoples. Use the thl Roadtrip App to find Indigenous Australian and New Zealand Māori tourism experiences near you—just filter by “Activities” and “Culture” to see what’s close by.
Our bespoke design created for our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. Designed by a team of aspiring First Nations designers, aged 13 – 19, diligently working away under the mentorship of the teams from ingeous studios and Red Ochre Republic
Our Future-fit Sustainability Journey
At Mighty, our sustainability journey is guided by the Future-Fit Business Benchmark—a path we call our future-fit journey. All our branches in Australia and New Zealand have action plans aimed at improving energy and water efficiency, reducing waste, cutting emissions, and supporting local communities. We track our progress by:
- Measuring, reporting, and working to reduce our carbon emissions.
- Tackling waste, with a focus on reducing, reusing, and recycling.
- Rolling out energy and water saving initiatives at every branch.
- Sharing responsible travel tips with our guests.
- Advancing our Reconciliation Action Plan journey in Australia.
- Our partnerships with Māori communities.
- Donating regularly to community organisations—including bedding, kitchen items, and other essentials.
