You’ve started your Mighty adventure—exciting times ahead! To help you get on the road without a hitch, here’s what you need to know before, during, and after pick-up.

Before You Arrive

  • Complete Your Online Check-In
All guests must check in before picking up their camper, just like you would for a flight. Aim to finish this step at least 30 days before you pick-up so we have all the right details for everyone who’ll be driving. During Online Check-In we ask you to complete your details, watch the Camper Safety Video and read the Rental Agreement. You can also add and pay for any additional products so we can ensure they are ready for your arrival.
  • Watch Your Inbox
Once you’ve confirmed your booking, we’ll send you useful pre-trip tips and reminders, so keep an eye out for emails from us.
  • Review the Rental Agreement
Take a few minutes to read through the Rental Agreement before you arrive. That way you don’t need to spend time at the branch reading it and it will ensure there are no surprises at pick-up.
  • Download the thl Roadtrip App
Grab the app from the Apple Store or Google Play. It’s packed with helpful show-through videos and tips for a smooth start to your journey.
  • Bring Your Physical Driver’s Licence
All drivers must bring their actual driver's licence to the branch. If your licence isn’t in English, you’ll also need a certified English translation or an International Driver’s Permit as well. We need to see both, or we can’t release your vehicle.

Getting to Us

  • No Onsite Parking
Unfortunately, we don’t offer guest parking at any of our branches, but in most cases, there are safe and affordable parking options nearby.
  • Arriving by Air?
If you’re flying in, consider booking a hotel near the branch for the night before pick-up so you’re well-rested. If you fly in and pick up the same day, keep your first drive short—settle into a nearby campground or holiday park to get familiar with your camper and the area.
  • Australian Branches
Hours can vary across Australian locations, so double-check your branch’s opening times in advance.
  • Airport Transfers (NZ Only)
Our Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown branches offer complimentary shuttle transfers to and from the airport. See the Branch Locations page for details.

In Branch and Collecting Your Camper

We want to ensure you get on the road safely and with confidence. We find some guests need more time than others to pick up a camper, as there a few more things to run through than with a usual car hire. This may delay your departure, so please allow plenty of time for pick-up in your itinerary.

  • Check-In
Head to the counter when you arrive. Have your driver's licence and credit card ready so we can process your booking quickly.
  • Safe Driving Questionnaire (NZ Only)
Before you leave, you’ll fill out a short questionnaire about New Zealand’s road rules. It’s quick and helps you drive confidently and safely.
  • Add Extra Hire Items
If you want to add any extras to your booking, you can do it at this point. Make sure you understand which liability option you have on your booking and ask your host any questions if you have them.
  • Camper Walkthrough
One of our crew will show you to your camper, talk you through its features and allow you time to familiarise yourself with them and their operation. Watching the camper show through video in advance is really helpful to understand your camper.
  • App and Videos
Revisit our show-through and ‘CamperHelp how-to’ videos anytime in the thl Roadtrip App. These cover everything from plugging into power to emptying the toilet cassette, setting up the dining table, and making the beds.
  • Pack Up and Go
Load your belongings, but don’t plan a huge drive on your first day. Make sure you have a holiday park or campground booked, so you can plug in, fully charge your battery, and settle in.

Hitting the Road

  • First Night, Plug In
For campers with 240V, connect to mains power on your first night to ensure your battery is fully charged. Use the app to find and book a campground in advance.
  • Get a Local SIM or eSIM
We strongly suggest getting a local SIM or eSIM so you can easily call local numbers, including our On Road Assist team if needed.
  • Stock Up
Your camper’s kitchenette is ready to go. Once you leave the branch, stop at a local supermarket for groceries and road trip snacks.
  • Know the Rules
Take a moment to review local road rules—some things might be different from what you’re used to.
  • Ongoing Help
Whenever you need a refresher, you can re-watch our show-through or how-to videos in the app. From plugging into power to making the beds, you’ll be a pro in no time.
  • Tolls
You may encounter toll roads on your journey in Australia or New Zealand. In Australia, all vehicles are registered for automatic tolling. No need to stop or pay cash—just drive, and toll charges, along with a small administration fee, will be automatically billed to the credit card on file. In New Zealand you are responsible for paying the toll free directly to the toll company. Your branch host can help you purchase a toll pass. If you forget to purchase a pass and Mighty receives a notice about an unpaid toll, the charge, along with an administration fee, will be passed on to you.

Always remember, we have a 24/7 On-Road Assist team available in case you need us. You can call them directly through the App and you will also find the number on your key tag.

Enjoy your Mighty journey!
